Hyaluronic acid fillers have been used for many years in the face to fill the lips or the nasolabial folds or marionette lines, and in more recent years to fill the cheeks for mid-face volume loss or in the tear troughs to erase the tired look of the aging face, but now these same fillers are being used off-face for neck and body rejuvenation!
These are exciting times for all ages as we look at new and different ways to employ hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm Volbella and Galderma Kyss. These are fillers which have less viscosity and can fill fine lines such as those found in the neck and referred to as Tech Neck. Horizontal bands that occur with chronic downward motion of the neck to view laptop computers and smart phones has created an aging neck even in the millennial population, but now there is an aesthetic answer to this problem!
Within a matter of minutes over a lunch break, patients can have two syringes of Volbella or Kyss places in the horizontal neck lines to erase that pesky Tech Neck and create a youthful neck again. Ice is used for pain control, and minimal bruising occurs, especially if patients prepare properly by minimizing intake of oral medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen and aspirin in the 2 weeks prior to the injection and the week after, as well as alcohol intake. Ice on the day of the injection is helpful as well.
