Get Younger-Looking Cheeks, Hands, and Skin in Dallas
It’s normal for aging skin to contain less of the substances that keep it strong and supple during youth. Beneficial elements that decrease over time include collagen, elastin, and moisture-regulating hyaluronic acid. Along with this change, aging faces tend to lose fat, and the overall structure is altered as increasingly fragile skin sags. The cheeks may no longer retain a pleasantly soft appearance, and loose skin hangs around the jaw in the form of jowls. To counter these cosmetic problems, dermatologist Dr. Ellen Turner recommends Restylane® Lyft at her Dallas and Irving-based practice.
As a dermal filler, Restylane® Lyft restores youthful cheek volume and fills in moderate to severe facial wrinkles. It is also the only hyaluronic acid-based filler approved by the FDA for treating aging-related volume loss in the backs of the hands.

What Is Restylane® Lyft?
Restylane® Lyft (formerly known as Perlane) is a non-surgical, injectable filler treatment that adds volume beneath the skin for a fuller look around the central area of the face. It has a soft and gel-like consistency. The formula is made up of a combination of water, lidocaine to improve comfort, and a molecule called hyaluronic acid that is naturally produced in the skin to boost hydration. In addition to rejuvenating hollowed cheekbone areas, the transparent, biodegradable Restylane® Lyft gel also reduces the depth of prominent nasolabial folds (smile lines).
There are many advantages associated with Restylane® Lyft, including the fact that—like other hyaluronic acid fillers—the results can be seen right away, an appointment will usually take less than an hour to be completed, and there is minimal recovery time since it’s a non-surgical treatment.
Because the cheeks typically need more lift compared to lower face areas, facial fillers with a larger particle size like Restylane® Lyft can be ideal for this region.
Which Types of Wrinkles Can be Addressed with Restylane® Lyft?
Hyaluronic acid facial fillers like Restylane® Lyft are designed for moderate to severe static wrinkles, such as pronounced nasolabial folds. These wrinkles are etched in and can be always seen on the face when it’s moving or at rest. They develop because of volume loss in the skin when production of important proteins like collagen and elastin declines with aging, depletion of fat and moisture in the skin, or collagen degradation due to excess sun exposure, smoking, or other causes.
Who Is an Ideal Candidate for Restylane® Lyft?
Restylane® Lyft at Dallas and Irving’s Dermatology Office is a versatile filler that can reduce nasolabial folds and other facial lines, re-contour the mid-face, and add volume to the backs of the hands for a smoother, fuller, more youthful look.
Most adults who maintain realistic expectations and are hoping to restore facial contours or address pronounced folds around the middle and lower part of the face are good candidates for Restylane® Lyft. However, the filler is not recommended for people who are allergic to bacterial proteins or other ingredients found in the product, those who have experienced severe scarring or skin pigmentation disorders, or people who have had bleeding disorders.
How Can You Prepare for Restylane® Lyft?
The preparation will be the same regardless of what type of dermal filler is chosen. Dr. Turner or her aesthetic consultants will start by examining your face and asking you about your goals and the areas you would like to enhance with Restylane® Lyft. She may ask about your medical history. It’s important that you tell her about any medications you are currently taking.
Before having this treatment, we may recommend that you avoid certain medications or supplements that increase the risk of complications, such as blood thinners. You should also avoid smoking. If a rash, cold sore, or another blemish develops, you may wish to reschedule your appointment for Restylane® Lyft. Beyond that, minimal preparation is needed.
We can provide you with a topical anaesthetic to minimize discomfort during the injections themselves.
Restylane® Lyft Treatment Details
Using a very fine needle or cannula, Dr. Turner will inject small amounts of Restylane® deep into the skin, then massage the area to ensure even distribution. Patients usually will not experience much discomfort during these injections. On average, a typical Restylane® Lyft session should take between 15 minutes to an hour.
What Are Recovery and Results Like for Restylane® Lyft?
Results for Restylane® Lyft are visible virtually as soon as the filler is injected. Wrinkles or facial contours will look better right away, and there are little to no limitations on activities afterward. Many patients experience minor, temporary side effects after Restylane® Lyft injections, including swelling, redness, and itching in the area where they were injected. The treatment area may also initially look overfilled, but these side effects should resolve quickly.
To reduce swelling and bruising while also allowing the filler to “settle” and the treatment area to heal, it’s recommended that you avoid intense exercise during the first 24 to 48 hours. Try to avoid rubbing, massaging, or itching the treatment area during the first 24 hours, apply sunscreen to protect the skin, and apply an ice pack to help reduce any swelling or tenderness.
That said, there is virtually no recovery time required, and patients can go back to their typical day-to-day activities right away. In some cases, additional injection sessions may be needed to get the best results. Some individuals are prone to filler naturally breaking down at a slightly faster rate due to their bodies and lifestyles. There’s not much that can be done to prevent this. However, it’s recommended that you maintain a good skin care routine and use topical products containing hyaluronic acid, the same ingredient in fillers, to prolong results. Avoid putting too much pressure on your skin in the days and weeks after the treatment.
How Much Does Restylane® Lyft Cost?
Each patient is assessed on a case-by-case basis to determine how many syringes and treatments they will need depending on their goals and individual anatomy. You will be advise on the total cost of your treatment during your consultation.
Facial Wrinkles: Options Beyond Restylane® Lyft
In addition to Restylane® Lyft, patients who want to revitalize their facial appearance can consider similar injectable filler alternatives, including hyaluronic acid-based Juvéderm®, calcium-based Radiesse®, and Sculptra®, which makes use of something known as poly-L-lactic acid to prompt new collagen creation. Voluma® is a durable, long-lasting gel from the Juvéderm® family that works similarly to Restylane® Lyft to elevate and improve definition in the mid-face area.
Remember: Not all wrinkles are the same. Some are caused by repetitive facial muscle contractions. These are known as expression wrinkles and can be softened with neuromodulators, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, which are used for reducing wrinkles caused by muscle movement around the eyes and forehead. Neuromodulators contain a protein called botulinum toxin. Unlike facial fillers, neuromodulators don’t add volume beneath the skin. Instead, they temporarily relax tense or expressive facial muscles to make dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet and frown lines appear less prominent. Fillers like Restylane® Lyft can be combined with injectable neuromodulators for comprehensive results.
