Exosomes
Advanced Rejuvenation Therapy for Anti-Aging Skin Repair and Renewal in Dallas and Irving
Along with normal aging, sun damage and other environmental stressors take a toll on the physical appearance of the skin each day. The generation of collagen, one of the most important proteins for maintaining a healthy and youthful look, decreases as we age, and new skin cells are created at a slower rate, leading to wrinkles, uneven tone and texture, and other imperfections. Advanced techniques have recently been developed to enhance skin health on a cellular level. By utilizing the regenerative abilities of exosomes, the Dallas area’s Dr. Ellen Turner can help patients to reduce the appearance of age-related skin concerns, including lines.
Exosomes can be an add-on for micro-needling, facials, and other cosmetic procedures to enhance these treatments’ rejuvenating effects.

What are Exosomes?
Exosomes are extracellular vesicles, or components of cells, that enable cell-to-cell communication. They basically act as the cells’ messaging centers. Stem cell-derived exosomes have strong regenerative capabilities and are now being used to improve aging tissues in the body—including the skin—by encouraging natural healing and rejuvenation.
Exosomes also help to facilitate the exchange of important proteins, including RNA, fibroblasts, keratinocytes, immune cells, growth factors, cytokines, and genetic materials between cells. When used in skin therapy, they can be manipulated to perform certain actions, such as encouraging cells to produce more collagen, stimulating fibroblasts, and increasing skin thickness to delay the effects of skin aging.
Studies also suggest that these parts of cells may be beneficial for healing wounds and skin conditions, such as atopic dermatitis. Since the vesicles are taken from a patient’s own cells, the risk of rejection by the body is low. Exosomes can improve wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, dullness, dryness, redness, irritation, other skin lesions, scars, and dilated pores.
Microneedling with Exosome Therapy
When used together with other aesthetic skincare procedures, exosomes can reduce downtime and optimize results. When they are used for a micro-needling treatment, the extracted exosomes are included in a growth-activating serum that is re-injected deep into the skin. Though multiple treatments may be required, the skin gradually becomes brighter and more even. The procedure lasts for approximately 45 to 60 minutes. No downtime is required after, but the skin may be slightly sore and reddish for a few days.
More Anti-Aging Skin Treatments
Exosomes are just one option for skin regeneration. At her Dallas-based dermatology office, Dr. Ellen Turner provides an extensive selection of other skincare treatments, including chemical peels, micro-needling, radio-frequency microneedling and Dermalinfusion. These treatments all induce gradual collagen regeneration. Exosomes are an alternative to PRP (platelet-rich plasma), which is a concentrate that harnesses the healing and regenerative abilities of the platelets from a patient’s own blood to enhance the appearance of the skin when used together with other collagen-inducing treatments.
Dr. Turner also offers filler collections such as Juvéderm® and Restylane® that add volume below the surface to lift and thicken the skin as a temporary treatment for wrinkles, sagging, and hollow areas. Collagen-stimulating dermal fillers such as Radiesse® and Sculptra® volumize skin while also helping it create more of its own collagen. BOTOX® Cosmetic is the gold standard for temporarily reducing dynamic wrinkles such as frown lines that are associated with repetitive facial expressions.
