What Are the Best Alternatives to BOTOX® Under the Eyes?

Find Ways to Reduce Dynamic Wrinkles That Form Around and Under the Eyes in the Dallas Area

When the skin under the eyes becomes thinner and loses elasticity, wrinkles may appear—and our repeated facial movements can make them more pronounced. BOTOX® is commonly used to treat some of these lines, including wrinkles on the forehead and crow’s feet. That said, BOTOX® under the eyes—also known as BOTOX® for under eye wrinkles, under eye lines BOTOX®, or BOTOX® for eye wrinkles—is something that should be avoided.

Although some injectors use botulinum toxin type A treatments to reduce wrinkles on the delicate area below the eyes, Dr. Ellen Turner never provides BOTOX® under the eyes. Her Dallas-area team does provide BOTOX® for crow’s feet at the outer corners of eyes, but opts for facial fillers for addressing sunken tear troughs. Also, rather than BOTOX® for the under-eye area, Dr. Turner uses treatments to stimulate collagen production, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), exosomes, or skin rejuvenation options such as Exion for the under eye area.

BOTOX® Around the Eyes: How Does BOTOX® Under the Eyes Compare to Other Treatments?

BOTOX® under the eyes and fillers are completely different treatments. For providers who offer BOTOX® under the eyes, a small amount of BOTOX® is introduced where you may see the under-eye muscle bulging when you’re smiling or squinting. The idea is to relax this muscle and reduce the bulge.

Fillers are commonly used for reducing shadows or dark circles around the eyes to improve a discolored or sunken look in the tear troughs. By adding volume, they can also reduce wrinkles. Under-eyes BOTOX® for eye bags won’t usually be very effective, as it can improve the look of the surrounding skin, but won’t treat the bags themselves.

What are some options beyond fillers instead of BOTOX® for under the eyes? By stimulating collagen production, PRP helps to address volume loss, wrinkles, and dark circles under the eyes. EXION™ Face combines radiofrequency and ultrasound to increase natural hyaluronic acid, collagen, and elastin around the eyes for a more youthful look. Exosomes have regenerative abilities and can enhance overall skin health at a cellular level.

A quick search online for “BOTOX® Near Me,” “Under eye BOTOX® injection sites,” or “Under eye BOTOX® cost” can provide plenty of information about treatments, but it’s best to meet with Dr. Ellen Turner and her team for a consultation to find out more about how treatments like BOTOX® under the eyes work—and why other options might be better for you.

More than BOTOX® Under the Eyes: What Does the Dermatology Office Use BOTOX® to Treat?

BOTOX® is a versatile treatment that does far more than just reduce wrinkles:

      • A BOTOX® brow lift—also referred to as BOTOX® for hooded eyes, hooded eye BOTOX®, BOTOX® for uneven eyes, or a BOTOX® eye lift—can subtly lift the brow without the need for cosmetic surgery.
      • BOTOX® for frown lines or BOTOX® between the eyes reduces “elevens” or glabellar lines on the area above the nose and between the brows.
      • Nose BOTOX® can enhance the shape of the nose by lifting a drooping nose tip, reduce excessive flaring of the nostrils, or soften bunny lines beside the nose.
      • Chin BOTOX® minimizes dimpling or creases on the chin.
      • Masseter BOTOX® gives the jaw a slimmer, more defined, or V-shaped look.
      • Trapezius BOTOX® makes the shoulders and neck look leaner.

BOTOX® for migraines, BOTOX® for a lazy eye, and BOTOX® for TMJ are examples of ways in which BOTOX® can be used for medical purposes.

Beyond BOTOX® for the Eye Area: Which Other Aesthetic Procedures Are Available in the Dallas Area?

Dr. Ellen Turner’s Dallas-based Dermatology Office provides a wide range of cosmetic procedures that can be used as alternatives to BOTOX® under the eyes or for rejuvenating other facial areas.

Dermal fillers such as Juvéderm® hyaluronic acid fillers add volume or fullness. These injectables are designed to augment certain features, improve their definition, or reduce wrinkles. Radiesse® and Sculptra® are known as biostimulatory injectables that prompt collagen creation to enhance your appearance. Skin rejuvenation treatments like chemical peels, microneedling, and Dermalinfusion improve the general look of the skin and address other types of concerns that can’t be treated with neuromodulator options like BOTOX® under the eyes. Talk to the Dermatology Office team to discover which could be best for you.
