Have you ever seen the legs of an elephant? That appearance is what my thighs used to look like. Not only did I have the laxity of an elephant, but throw in some cellulite and my daughter liked to laugh at me when I put on my swimsuit. And it’s not as though I am on the chunkier side. I used to be, but not any longer.
That’s the thing about laxity and cellulite. It affects thin or thick people. Cellulite affects more than 90% of all women due to the genetic construction of our fibrous bands that we are blessed with. Thankfully, there is EmTone for cellulite.
But what about laxity???
Laxity was trickier for me as a provider to address for my patients (and myself). It represents the loss of collagen and elastin, as well as hyaluronic acid. That is a lot of loss! Rather than sitting down to re-read How to Survive the Loss of a Love, by Colgrove et al for the fourth time, I knew there was a device that could address my issue. After all, keeping up with the field of aesthetics and the overwhelming quantity of technological advances is akin to drinking water through a fire hydrant. It’s virtually impossible to keep up. But as Winnie the Pooh says, “Nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.”
I turned to the trusted technology at BTL. With over 400 engineers investing in research, BTL developed the Exion platform which incorporates both radiofrequency and ultrasound energy in a variety of handpieces for the face and body designed to stimulate collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.
Now laxity can be addressed with a combination of both ExionRF and ExionHA. I offer my patients ExionRF, the least painful radiofrequency microneedling device on the market, with a maximum depth of penetration of 8mm, in three treatments, spaced one month. The secret sauce is the impedance, or rather, the resistance of the electrical flow through the skin. In essence, the device is tricking the nerves at the peripheral level, and therefore the brain does not pick up the pain sensation. Or at least the brain won’t feel the pain as intensely.
This is important when it comes to larger areas where one is contraindicated from the use of excessive topical lidocaine secondary to cardiotoxicity. Additionally, patients requiring a series of treatments to achieve optimal outcomes do not wish to have oral analgesics costing time away from work or outsourcing of a driver. So ExionRF on the body for laxity meets every requirement—optimal patient outcomes with minimal discomfort to the patient, and no recovery time.
The ExionHA delivers thermal and mechanical energy to maximally increase collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid—studies show as much as 224% hyaluronic acid–in weekly treatment sessions.
Combine ExionRF with ExionHA using the body handpiece, and achieve smoother, firmer, tighter and more lifted skin—anywhere on the body. And think how jealous the elephants will be.
